The Albany State University track and field team hosted the 2023 Alice Coachman Invitational on April 8, 2023. A total of 22 teams participated in the annual event.
The Golden Rams women finished in 2
nd place out of 11 women teams. Florida A&M finished in 1
st place with a score of 111. They were followed by Albany State (76.5), Columbus State (75), Tuskegee (68.5), Fort Valley State (61), Brewton-Parker (26), Tallahassee CC (23), Tallahassee Zoom Track Club (20), Velocity TC (20), Voorhees (12) and Thomas (11).
Kiyah Pittmon won the 800 M with a time of 2:24.79.
Zamya Rhaney finished 3
rd in the 1500 M with a time of 5:21.92.
Nathalia Rowe won the 400 Hurdles with a time of 1:03.70.
The team of Dasia Gilyard, Shonkeria Jones, Kennedy Simmons and Jeniya Lawrence won the 4x100 Relay with a time of 49.22.
Sydney Blackburn won the Discus with a mark of 44.44m.
Anaya Howell won the Javelin with a mark of 29.75m.
The Golden Rams men finished in 2
nd place out of 11 men teams. Columbus State won the meet with 119 points. They were followed by Albany State (92), Florida A&M (82), Morehouse (72), Thomas (60), Tuskegee (50), Brewton-Parker (47), Voorhees (25), Fort Valley State (23), UNAT-Voorhees (8) and Most Valuable Athletics (5).
Ed Gilbert won the 100 M with a time of 10.67. Shannon Carter finished in 3
rd place with a time of 10.89.
Ed Gilbert won the 200 M with a time of 22.03.
Sage Abdullah finished 2
nd in the 5000 M with a time of 17:15.96.
Jayvon Hutchinson won the 110 Hurdles with a time of 14.85.
Jordan Smith won the 400 Hurdles with a time of 55.70.
The team of Demario Jackson, Ed Gilbert, Shannon Carter and Kibren Moore won the 4x100 Relay with a time of 42.39.
