The Albany State Golden Rams softball team scored 6 runs in the 1
st inning and was able to withstand a late rally to defeat the Benedict College Tigers (6-5) on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Golden Rams improved to (10-6) overall and (3-0) in the SIAC. The Tigers are now (2-9) overall and (0-3) in the conference.
In the 1
st inning, Morgan Brown, Romona McLeod and Ciweya Tennison all hit singles that scored runs for the Golden Rams.
De'Laynie Hollis also had a double in the game for the Golden Rams.
Romona McLeod earned her 3
rd victory on the mound for the Golden Rams. McLeod pitched 6.1 innings and struck out 6 batters while allowing 5 earned runs.
