The Golden Rams defeated the Savannah State Tigers (3-0) at The Jones Brothers Health, Physical Education and Recreation Complex on Tuesday, September 6. The Golden Rams remain undefeated as they improved to (2-0) while the Tigers fell to (0-3).
In set 1, the Golden Rams controlled the match from start to finish and eventually won (25-19).
In set 2, the Tigers jumped out to an early (6-0) lead. After a timeout, the Golden Rams rallied by scoring 6-straight. The teams exchanged leads throughout set 2. In the end, the Golden Rams length was too much as they won set 2 (25-19).
In set 3, the teams battled to an early (8-8) tie. The Tigers called a timeout after the Golden Rams slightly pulled away with a (13-10) lead. With the Golden Rams leading (21-18), the Tigers called another timeout. After taking the lead briefly, the Tigers ultimately fell to the Golden Rams (25-23) in set 3.
Khamari Trotter and
Mary Kate Preston had 14 and 13 kills, respectively.
Chelsea Doswell led the Golden Rams with 25 assists. Defensively,
Hailey Elyicio finished with 25 digs.
Sydney Melton finished with 17 digs.
Mary Kate Preston ended the night with 19.5 points while
Khamari Trotter finished with 15.5 points.
The Golden Rams won't play at home again until Saturday, September 17. On that day, the Golden Rams will play Spring Hill College at 12:00 noon and Miles College at 3:00 pm.
