Mobile, Ala. – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams saw their postseason run come to a close Friday evening, falling 0–3 to powerhouse Spring Hill College in the semifinals of the 2025 SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Badgers claimed the match with set scores of 25–15, 25–12, 25–18.
The loss concludes a competitive and resilient season for the Lady Golden Rams, who finish 16–14 overall and an impressive 14–4 in SIAC play. The team's growth and consistency throughout the year were reflected not only in their semifinal appearance but also in the recognition of three players earning All-SIAC Second Team honors.
Albany State aimed to match Spring Hill's fast-paced offense and strong blocking from the start.
Jarianis Perez helped keep the Rams competitive with powerful swings in the first set. Despite efforts to regroup in the second, Spring Hill's precision made it difficult for Albany State to capitalize on opportunities at the net, despite solid defensive positioning.
Talia Smith provided stability in the back row with exceptional reads and hustle, finishing with a team-high 13 digs.
Shaniya Banks made her presence felt at the net with 4 block assists, helping disrupt Spring Hill's middle attack.
The Lady Golden Rams opened the third set with renewed intensity and their most balanced offensive execution of the evening. Perez and
Josiya Teague, the team's top offensive options, continued to find scoring windows despite Spring Hill's tight block.
Perez recorded 10 kills to lead the Rams, while Teague added 9 kills, swinging with power and consistency on the outside. Albany State hit more effectively as a team in the final frame and generated stronger defensive pressure, but Spring Hill's depth and steady side-out play helped them secure the final set 25–18 and the match sweep.
Albany State's defensive core, led by Smith, Perez, and Banks, showcased the team's resilience against one of the best offenses in the region. The Lady Golden Rams concluded the year with pride, finishing the SIAC season with a record of 14–4. They also advanced to the postseason and had three players named All-Conference, highlighting the program's upward trajectory.
