The Albany State Golden Rams 4-game winning streak was snapped when they lost (24-20) to the Benedict Tigers on Homecoming at the ASU Coliseum on Saturday, October 15. The Golden Rams fell to (5-1) overall and (3-1) in the SIAC while the Tigers improved to (7-0) overall and (5-0) in the SIAC.
The Tigers scored on their 1
st possession when Eric Phoenix connected with Billy Pierre on a 10-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a (7-0) lead that they would never relinquish. The scoring drive consisted of 16 plays for 85 yards and lasted 8 minutes and 54 seconds.
The Tigers struck again when Deondra Duehart scored on a 5-yard run. The scoring drive covered 10 plays for 89 yards and lasted 4 minutes and 18 seconds.
The Golden Rams scored on an 8-yard run by
Kam Ward. The touchdown cut the Tigers lead to (14-7). The scoring drive consisted of 4 plays for 25 yards and last 1 minute and 59 seconds.
The Tigers added a 20-yard field goal by Davis Rogers to extend the lead to (17-7) as time expired in the first half.

rd quarter,
Dionte Bonneau connected with
Rashad Jordan on a 93 yard touchdown pass. The touchdown cut the Tigers lead down to (17-14) and gave the Golden Rams momentum in the 3
rd quarter.
Benedict responded with a scoring drive that consisted of 7 plays for 71 yards capped off by a 4-yard touchdown run by quarterback Eric Phoenix. The drive lasted 3 minutes and 57 seconds. The score gave the Tigers a (24-14) advantage.
The Golden Rams closed the gap when backup quarterback
Jhaydon Sullivan connected with his receiver on a 5 yard touchdown pass to cut the Tigers lead down to (24-20). The extra point attempt was blocked.
The Golden Rams attempted an onside kick but it was recovered by the Tigers.
The Tigers actually fumbled on the last play of the game. The Golden Rams recovered the fumble but could not score after several backward laterals to end the game.
Dionte Bonneau finished 9-17 for 151 yards and 1 touchdown while
Jhaydon Sullivan completed 9-13 for 83 yards and 1 touchdown.
Kam Ward had 8 rushes for 46 yards and 1 touchdown.
Rashad Jordan led the Golden Rams in receiving with 4 catches for 121 yards and 1 touchdown.
Stephan Pierre led the "Dirty Blue" defense with 16 tackles (7 solo) with 3 for a loss.
Antwan Goseer had an interception for the Golden Rams.
Anthony Harvey and
Malik Barnes had a sack for the Golden Rams.
Eric Phoenix finished 22-28 for 253 yards and 1 touchdown. Zaire Scotland had 22 carries for 108 yards for the Tigers. Tayven Grice had 8 catches for 50 yards for the Tigers.
Defensively, Loobert Denelus finished with 10 tackles with 3 for a loss and 1 sack to lead the Tigers. Ja'Ron Kilpatrick finished with 9 tackles with 2 for a loss and a forced fumble.
