SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Albany State women's softball team held leads in both games, but big scoring innings by Savannah State University erased its advantages. As a result, ASU dropped 13-8 and 10-1 decisions to Savannah State in a Saturday doubleheader.

The pair of losses gives the Golden Rams an overall record of 0-8. The Tigers improve to 2-0.

Albany State built an early lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Sydney Pettus hit a single that scored
Mikiayah Harris for a 1-0 edge. The Tigers answered with adding five runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Golden Rams answered at the top of the second inning with four runs to tie the game five all. ASU advanced its lead in the third inning with three runs to edge the Tigers 8-5.

Savannah State would remain scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inning when they plated six runs to take the 13-8 victory.Â

Sydney Pettus recorded two hits and three RBIs, and Harris and Tennison both added two hits. The Golden Rams collected 10 hits and left seven runners left on base.
Sydney Pettus was the losing pitcher who pitched five innings only allowing nine runs, 12 hits and two strikeouts in the 29 batters faced.

Sydney Pettus started things off for the Golden Rams with a single to left field to score Ayers taking a 1-0 lead. That's all the offense ASU could muster. The Tigers scored eight total runs in the first and second innings and two in the fifth to defeat Albany State.

The Golden Rams had four hits, one error and four LOBs.

For Savannah State, Morgan Green led the Tigers with a perfect performance at the plate (three-for- three). The Tigers tallied nine hits, an error and five LOBs. Alisyn Ferrell was the winning pitcher.

Albany State will return to action when they travel to Montgomery, Alabama for a matchup against the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks on Tuesday, March 23. First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m. (cst).
