ALBANY, Ga. (March 12, 2019) -- The Albany State University track & field program is set to compete in its first two-day meet of the 2019 outdoor season this weekend, as the Golden Rams travel to Tallahassee, Florida for the 67
th Annual Florida A&M Relays. Florida A&M University will host the meet from Friday to Saturday, Mar. 15-16 at the Pete Griffin Track.
The meet will begin Friday at 11:00 a.m. with would consists of multi events through the day. The Golden Rams will wrap things up on Saturday, March 16
th with things kicking off a 9:00 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: ASU last competed on Saturday, Mar. 9 at the Adonica Ferguson Classic, hosted by Columbus State University. On the men's side, ASU finished fourth with 111 points. CSU finished first with 163.50 points followed by Truett-McConnell (120) and Reinhardt (117.50) finished in second and third place while Albany State (111) and Fort Valley State (56) rounded out the top-five.
The men grabbed five individual winners with
Christopher Jackson taking the 100 meter run victory with a time of 10.73.
Cervantes Jackson grabbed a first place finish in the 200 meter with a time of 22.65. Jackson also took the 110 meter hurdles with a time of
14.91. He also finished first in the long jump.
Joshua Ajiero delivered another individual win in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.63.
On the women's side ASU came away in third place with scoring 95 points. Host CSU finished in first place followed by North Georgia (102) and Albany State (95) finished in second and third while Fort Valley State (86) and Truett-McConnell (58) finished out the top five.
The Golden Rams grabbed two individual winners in the meet.
Gabrielle Vincent brought home the long jump win with securing 5.17m.
Lauren Wood took the triple jump win finishing with 10.26 m.
ASU would take home one relay win in the meet with the 4x100 team each coming away victorious.
UP NEXT: Albany State University will return to the tracks on Mar. 22-23 at the Emory Invitational, hosted by Emory University.
