GOLDEN RAMS PLACE THIRD AT EMORY CLASSIC

ATLANTA- The Albany State University men's track and field team took third place at the Emory Classic held March 30-31.

Out of 21 scored events, the Golden Rams finished with a team score of 74 behind Kennesaw State (116) and John Carroll (101). Albany State had several performers place fourth or higher in six events to solidify their top three team finish.

In the men's 800m, Joshua Ajero grabbed 10 points that went towards the team total, topping the field with a time of 1:40.32. Jamorris Hill took fourth in the race posting a time of 1:54.30. ASU also added points from Christopher Jackson and Cervantes Jackson, who finished second and fourth, respectively in the 100m dash.

Cervantes Jackson cleared a height of 2.05m to place second in the high jump and finished first in the long jump with an attempt of 7.33m. Christopher Jackson's jump went for 6.91m, good for fourth place.

With a time of 36:34.78, sophomore distance runner Zackary Johnson turned in a solid performance with a third place finish in the men's 10000m race.

In the men's throwing events, Marquis Davis took second in the discus (45.30m) and seventh in the shot put (13.19m).

ASU's only relay race of the Emory Classic yielded a seventh place finish in the men's 4x100 as both Jacksons, Terrius McDougal and Dorin Thornton posted a time of 43.26.

The Golden Rams will be in action again at the Cougar Classic hosted by Columbus State University on April 7^t.
