Jackson Wins High Jump, Long Jump for Golden Rams

AUGUSTA, GA- The Albany State University men's track and field teams placed second overall at the Paine College Lion Invitational Saturday.

In a field of twelve squads, the Golden Rams landed second place with a team score of 115 behind Edward Waters who topped the field with a total of 162. ASU edged the Tigers of Benedict College who round out the top three with a score of 113.

All-American Cervantes Jackson captured first place in both the long jump (7.23m) and the high jump with a height of 2.08m. He also turned in a solid performance with a second place finish in the javelin throw at 43.70m.

The Golden Rams 4x400m relay team posted a time of 3:36.28 good for a fourth place finish.

Jamorris Hill took first place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:14.10 and came in second in the 800m at 1:56.91. Joshua Ajero topped the field of the 800m, just ahead of Hill with a time of 1:56.91.

In the hurdle events, Jackson finished in second place in the 110m posting a time of 15.29 and Dorin Thorton captured second with a 55.31 in the 400m.

The Golden Rams' next event will be at the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia March 16-17^th.
