FLORENCE, S.C.– The matchup between the Albany State University Golden Rams and Francis Marion University Patriots ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Patriots came out strong scoring the first goal of the game after only eight minutes of play. Emma Hall found Megan Misuraca to put the Patriots on the board early.
Albany State answered in the 21
stminute when
Sydney Bishop followed up an eight-yard rebound for a goal by
Brittanie Evans tying the score at 1.
Sierra Cartano put the Patriots up 2-1 at the 32:24 mark when she found the back of the net assisted by Faith Allen & Emma Hall.
Francis Marion would go into the locker room with the lead but Albany State came out strong in the second half. The Golden Rams scored after only three minutes of play.
LeFaren Donaldson kicked an 18-yard chip shot over Micahla Kitchen, evening the score at 2.
The Albany State defense would not allow another goal in regulation, forcing not one, but two overtime periods. The two teams would trade shots in the first OT and the Patriots made two attempts in the second that they couldn't convert, resulting in a 2-2 final.
Abby Whiteside had nine saves on the night.
Albany State finishes their three-game road stint when they head to Newberry College on Monday, Oct. 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
