MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – After missing a week of competition due to Hurricane Michael, Albany State University returned to action Saturday, Oct. 20, finishing 16
th among 18 teams at the Georgia College Bobcat Men's Cross Country Invitational.
The Golden Rams ran a combined time of 2:38.48, coming in second among Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, six minutes behind Morehouse, and finishing ahead of Fort Valley State and Clark Atlanta.
Zackary Johnson led ASU with an 8K personal record 26:50 in 51
st position.
Joshua Ajiero finished 116
th with his season-best 8K time of 30:02.8, followed by
Rodney Tookes (134
th, 32:19.1),
Joshua Stapleton (147
th, 33:51.4), Timothy Heyward (152
nd, 35:45.2),
Cameo Wilkerson (153
rd, 35:56.7). Tookes' and Heyward's times were also an 8K personal record.
UNC Pembroke's Silus Kipkoech (24:08.4), Joshua Chepkesir (24:09) and Logan Ward (25:00.7) finished one-two-three individually to lead Pembroke to the team title above Alabama-Huntsville. Augusta, Montevallo and Tampa rounded out the Top 5.
The SIAC Championships are up next for ASU on Friday, Nov. 2 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
