Uyl Joyner returns to the Golden Rams as the quarterback coach at Albany State after 2 years as the Offensive Coordinator at Dougherty Comprehensive High School in Albany, Georgia. Joyner is no stranger to the ASU football family as he successfully coached the SIAC's 2010 Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year, Stanley Jennings, as he led the Golden Rams to the SBN and SIAC championships.

A former two-sport star athlete, Joyner played as a quarterback with the football team and was a member of the Golden Rams' basketball team.

As quarterback in 2003 and 2004, Joyner led the Golden Rams to numerous victories and the 2004 SIAC championship.

The Albany, Ga., native led the Dougherty Trojans to the 1998 GHSA Class AAA state title. After playing two seasons at Troy University, he transferred to Albany State.

During the 2003 season, Joyner quarterbacked the Rams in the Pioneer Bowl to a 52-30 victory over the Fayetteville State Broncos.

In 2004, Joyner led the Rams to an 11-0 regular season finish and the deepest playoff run when the Rams appeared in the national quarterfinals.

During his two-year career as a Ram, Joyner passed for 4,090 yards and 29 touchdowns and rushed for another 1,041 yards and 16 touchdowns, racking up 5,131 yards of total offense.

Joyner is married to the former, V’Ashley Floyd, a former ASU athlete who played basketball and softball. They are the parents of one son, Micah.
