Grant Reynolds

Prior to coming to ASU, Reynolds spent time as the Head Baseball Coach at Ohio Christian University and as an assistant coach at Wheaton College in Illinois and at Davenport University in Michigan. He also coached at the high school level at Lemon Bay High School in Florida, The Seven Hills School in Ohio and most recently at Caledonia High School in Michigan.
 
Reynolds is a native of Sydney, Australia and graduated from Girraween High School in 1997. Reynolds came to the U.S. in 2000 where he attended Wallace State Community College – Hanceville and in 2001 struck out a school record 17 players in a game, while posting a 0.97 ERA and 9-1 record.  He was named the AJCCC MVP and garnered All-American status. Reynolds continued his career at Kennesaw State University, where he set a school record 18 strikeouts in 2002 and broke his own record and tied the Peach Belt record by striking out 19 players in 2003. He also set the school record for strikeouts in a season with 134 in 103 innings and holds the two highest single season strikeout totals. He holds the Peach Belt Record for single season conference strikeouts at 105. He was twice named Peach Belt Pitcher of the year and was also named South Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Year, as well as earning All-American status in both his junior and senior seasons. Reynolds was the first pitcher to win the Peach Belt Pitcher of the Year award twice and set a record by being named Peach Belt Pitcher of the Week 5 times in 2003. He was also named as one of Louisville Slugger’s National Players of the Week in March of 2003 for his 19 strikeout performance. He still holds the New England Collegiate Baseball League record with a 0.46 ERA as a starter, which was set in 2002. That year he was also named as the NECBL’s Top Pitcher and Top Pro-Prospect. Reynolds was named to the Kennesaw State University Hall of Fame in 2014.
 
After completing his collegiate career, Reynolds was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 9th Round of the 2003 draft. He spent 3 years with the A’s organization and was released after suffering multiple injuries including Tommy John Surgery in 2003.
 
Reynolds graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education and graduated From Concordia University Irvine in 2015 with a Master of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration. He will look to complete his Master of Science in Coaching and Exercise Science degree from Concordia University Irvine in 2019. He and his wife Erin, have four daughters, twins Hannah and Nora (3), Maddy (2) and Claire (1).
