ALBANY, Ga. — The Albany State University women's volleyball team delivered a dominant performance Wednesday night, sweeping Allen University 3-0 inside the HPER Gym.
The Golden Rams won by set scores of 25-9, 25-19 and 25-21, improving to 11-8 overall and 5-1 in SIAC play.
Albany State controlled the match offensively, finishing with 45 kills while hitting .407 as a team. The Golden Rams committed just 10 attack errors on 86 attempts and also recorded 41 assists, six service aces and 34 digs.
ASU set the tone immediately in the opening set. The Golden Rams recorded 14 kills with only one attack error, hitting .520 on their way to a commanding 25-9 victory. They remained efficient in the second set, posting a match-high 17 kills and a .483 hitting percentage to take a 2-0 advantage.
Allen challenged Albany State in the third set, which featured five ties and four lead changes, but the Golden Rams remained composed down the stretch to secure the 25-21 win and complete the sweep.
Jarianis Perez led the Golden Rams with 10 kills while hitting .444. Shaniya Banks added eight kills on just 10 attacks for a .700 hitting percentage, while Aleiah Carr contributed six kills. Amiria Anderson added five kills and hit .444.
Albany State also received efficient production throughout its lineup. Maya Ogbogu and Jayda Fleming each went a perfect 4-for-4 on attacks, while Serenity Jackson recorded four kills on five attempts for an .800 hitting percentage.
Liannette Burgos directed the offense with a team-high 20 assists and added two service aces. Trinity Britt chipped in 10 assists, while Myra Lopez anchored the defense with a match-high 14 digs and added three service aces.
The victory moves Albany State to 5-1 in conference play as the Golden Rams continue their SIAC schedule.
