ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's basketball program has announced its 2026-27 schedule, featuring a challenging slate of non-conference contests, SIAC matchups and key rivalry games throughout the season.
The Golden Rams will open the season on the road on Nov. 9 against the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega, Georgia, with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Albany State will continue its early-season road swing with a trip to Tallahassee to face NCAA Division I opponent Florida A&M on Nov. 12 at noon.
Albany State will begin SIAC competition on Nov. 24 with a road matchup against LeMoyne-Owen in Memphis, Tennessee, before returning to Albany for its home opener against Central State on Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. The Golden Rams will remain at home to welcome Clark Atlanta on Dec. 3 before traveling to face Savannah State on Dec. 10 and Edward Waters on Dec. 12.
Albany State returns home on Dec. 17 for a Kids Day matchup against Allen University at noon inside the Arena on West Campus. The Golden Rams will then host Benedict on Dec. 19 to close out the 2026 portion of their home schedule.
Head coach Todd Triplett believes the schedule will provide his team with the tests needed to grow throughout the season.
"We're excited about the schedule we've put together for this season. We wanted a schedule that would challenge us early and prepare us for the level of competition we're going to see throughout SIAC play. Going on the road and facing teams like North Georgia and Florida A&M will give us an opportunity to learn a lot about ourselves. Once conference play begins, we know every night is going to be a battle. Our focus is going to be on competing, continuing to improve and putting ourselves in position to be playing our best basketball when it matters most," Triplett said.
The Golden Rams will feature a mix of returning talent and new additions this season, including returner Sariah Johnson and Albany Technical College transfer Chloe Evans. Johnson returns with collegiate experience and will look to take another step forward for Albany State, while Evans joins the program after competing locally at Albany Tech and will look to make an immediate impact in her first season with the Golden Rams.
As the calendar turns to 2027, Albany State will continue SIAC play with several important games at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. The Golden Rams will host Kentucky State on Jan. 7, Miles on Jan. 13 and Tuskegee on Jan. 18.
One of the most anticipated games of the season comes on Jan. 16 when Albany State welcomes rival Fort Valley State to the Jones Brothers HPER Complex for a 2 p.m. tipoff. The Golden Rams will make the return trip to Fort Valley on Jan. 30 for another edition of the in-state rivalry.
Albany State will also host Savannah State on Feb. 4 and Edward Waters on Feb. 6 before entering the final stretch of the regular season. The Golden Rams will finish with a series of road contests, including games against Miles, Tuskegee, Allen, Benedict and Spring Hill.
The 2026-27 campaign will lead into the SIAC Basketball Tournament, scheduled for Feb. 27 through March 6.
With a combination of challenging non-conference opponents, a full SIAC slate and several key home dates, the Golden Rams will look to use the 2026-27 schedule to prepare themselves for another postseason run under Triplett.
