Golden Rams Show Offensive Firepower in Tournament Opener Against Miles

Macon, Ga. — The postseason atmosphere was electric at Luther Williams Field as the Albany State University baseball team opened play in the SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament against Miles College. Despite an offensive showcase from the Golden Rams, Albany State came up short in an 11-15 contest in Macon.

Albany State displayed resilience and offensive explosiveness throughout the matchup, producing 11 runs on 11 hits and building multiple leads early in the game.

The Golden Rams wasted little time making their presence felt. In the opening inning, Arin Chevers delivered one of the game's biggest early moments, launching a three-run home run to left field to give Albany State a 3-0 advantage. The blast scored Aiden Payne and Luke Addison, energizing the dugout and setting an aggressive tone offensively.

Albany State added to its lead in the second inning when Addison connected on a two-run homer to left field, extending the Golden Rams' advantage to 5-1. The long ball continued Albany State's early offensive momentum as the lineup consistently pressured Miles' pitching.

The Golden Rams kept the bats active in the third inning. Mylon Uribe worked a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run before Ryan Brown added another RBI after being hit by a pitch, stretching Albany State's lead to 7-2.
Albany State answered again in the fourth inning with another productive offensive surge. David Cooper lined a two-run single through the left side to plate Tyler Turner and Payne, while Uribe followed with an RBI single to center to push the lead to 10-4.

The offensive production came from throughout the lineup. Chevers finished with four RBIs, highlighted by his first-inning home run and a sacrifice fly later in the game. Addison delivered two hits and two RBIs, while Cooper added two RBIs of his own. Uribe contributed a pair of RBIs, and Brown reached base four times while collecting two hits and driving in a run. Ty Grover also added a multi-hit performance, finishing with two hits, while Payne crossed the plate twice and created pressure on the bases.

On the mound, Colin Loeffler provided a steady start, working four innings while recording two strikeouts. Dereck Foster delivered valuable relief innings late, striking out three batters across 3.1 innings of work to help stabilize the game down the stretch.

Despite the final score, Albany State showed the offensive depth and scoring capability that has defined the Golden Rams throughout the season. The lineup consistently generated opportunities, drew nine walks, and demonstrated the ability to respond offensively throughout the contest.

The Golden Rams now turn their attention to the next opportunity in tournament play as they prepare to face Benedict College on Day 2 of the championship tournament. First pitch is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. at Luther Williams Field as Albany State looks to continue its postseason run.
