Tifton, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams delivered a resilient and determined performance on the road, battling through 11 innings in a hard-fought 14-12 contest against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
The Golden Rams came out firing in the opening inning, putting together an explosive six-run frame that immediately established control.
Ty Grover got things started with a two-RBI single up the middle, and moments later,
David Cooper delivered the biggest swing of the day—a towering three-run home run that capped off the early surge and gave Albany State a commanding 6-0 lead.
The aggressive start highlighted Albany State's ability to capitalize early and apply pressure on opposing pitching. Albany State continued to produce throughout the game, finishing with 12 runs on 11 hits while drawing seven walks—showcasing patience and discipline at the plate.
Grover led the way with three RBIs, while Cooper added four RBIs on his home run.
Aiden Payne provided a strong presence at the top of the lineup, recording two hits, two RBIs, and reaching base multiple times.
Luke Addison and
Jaden Camp each added multi-hit performances, helping sustain offensive momentum.
In the seventh inning, the Golden Rams responded in a big way once again.
Mylon Uribe came off the bench and delivered a clutch two-RBI double, and Payne followed with a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 11-6, demonstrating Albany State's depth and ability to get contributions from throughout the lineup.
Even as the game extended into the later innings, Albany State continued to respond under pressure. In the 10th inning,
Emory Stephens came through with an RBI single to give the Golden Rams a 12-11 advantage, once again putting the team in position late.
On the mound, Albany State utilized multiple arms, with several pitchers contributing key outs throughout the contest. The staff worked through challenging moments, keeping the team within reach and allowing the offense opportunities to respond.
Defensively, the Golden Rams played a clean game, committing no errors across 11 innings—another sign of their focus and discipline.
The Golden Rams will now return home for a conference series against Miles College on April 18-19. The weekend will feature Senior Day and Community Day, providing an opportunity to honor the program's seniors while continuing to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
