Albany, Ga. - Albany State Athletics continues to build momentum across multiple programs, highlighted by a strong week on the diamond and a dominant showing on the track. As the Golden Rams turn their attention to another full slate of competition, confidence and energy remain high across the department.
The Lady Golden Rams delivered one of the most impressive performances of the week, sweeping Clark Atlanta in a three-game series on the road. Albany State opened the series with a thrilling 3-2 extra-inning victory, showcasing resilience and composure in a tightly contested battle. The momentum carried into the next day, where the Lady Golden Rams powered their way to a 7-5 win behind an explosive offensive performance. They closed out the series in strong fashion with a 6-4 victory, completing the sweep and extending their winning streak.
Albany State's track & field programs turned in a standout performance at the Annual Alice Coachman Invitational, with both the men's and women's teams earning first-place finishes. The women's team led the way with an impressive 269 points, displaying depth and excellence across sprints, distance, relays, and field events. The men followed with a strong showing of their own, totaling 129 points to secure the top spot. The meet was marked by record-breaking performances and consistent finishes across the board, reinforcing Albany State's position as a contender heading into the championship portion of the season.
On the baseball side, the Golden Rams faced a challenging matchup against Georgia Southwestern, falling just short in a 4-3 contest. Despite the narrow loss, Albany State remained competitive throughout. The scheduled series against Benedict was postponed, giving the team additional time to regroup and prepare for the upcoming conference stretch.

The week ahead presents another busy stretch for Albany State Athletics, with multiple teams hitting the road and key conference matchups on deck.
Action begins Tuesday, April 14, as softball travels to Georgia Southwestern for a non-conference doubleheader, with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Baseball will also be on the road that day, heading to Tifton, Ga., for a non-conference matchup against Abraham Baldwin at 2:00 p.m.
Softball returns to conference play over the weekend with a three-game series against Fort Valley State in Atlanta. The series opens with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a single-game finale on Sunday at 1:00 p.m., which will also serve as Senior Day.
Baseball will be back at home for a key conference series against Miles College on April 18-19. Saturday's action features a Senior Day doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Sunday's series finale is set for a 12:00 p.m. first pitch.
Adding to the excitement, the annual Blue and Gold Spring Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the ASU Coliseum, giving fans an early look at the Golden Rams football program.

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program.
