Tifton, Ga. — The Albany State women's tennis team secured its first victory of the season with a thrilling 4–3 win over the Abraham Baldwin Lady Stallions on the road Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Golden Rams leaned on strong doubles play and clutch singles performances to seal the narrow victory.
Albany State set the tone early in doubles competition, capturing two of the three matches to earn the crucial doubles point. The duo of
Monique Gundrum and
Brooklyn Bowen delivered a strong performance to secure one win, while Jada Conley and
Autumn Bryant followed with another victory to give the Lady Golden Rams the early advantage heading into singles play.
With momentum on their side, Albany State battled through tightly contested singles matches. Jada Conley led the charge, earning a key point for the Lady Golden Rams with a decisive performance.
Brooklyn Bowen continued the momentum with another singles victory, keeping Albany State in control of the match.
The match ultimately came down to the final points, where
Monique Gundrum delivered the clinching performance in singles play. Her victory secured the fourth and final point for Albany State, sealing the 4–3 team win over the Lady Stallions.
The victory marks an important milestone for the Lady Golden Rams as they continue building momentum early in the season.
