Golden Rams Build Momentum as Busy Week Lies Ahead

Albany, Ga. - Albany State Athletics continues to gain momentum across multiple programs, carrying strong performances from last week into another full slate of competition.

The Golden Rams baseball team earned a strong 2-1 conference series win over Lane College, showcasing resilience with a Game 1 comeback and a dominant Game 2. This victory highlights the team's improving rhythm with timely hitting and solid pitching. Similarly, the Lady Golden Rams secured a 2-1 series win over Edward Waters in Jacksonville, combining explosive offense with strong pitching to maintain control and close out another crucial conference series victory.

Meanwhile, the men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Emory Spring Break Classic in Atlanta, where both squads delivered strong performances against a wide range of competition. Facing programs from NCAA Division II, NAIA, and other collegiate levels, the Golden Rams held their own with multiple top finishes. The meet provided a valuable opportunity for the teams to continue building momentum early in the outdoor season while competing against elite talent.

This week, Albany State returns home and across the region for another exciting stretch of competition. Baseball opens the week on Tuesday, March 24, hosting Columbus State in a non-conference matchup in Albany. The contest marks the second meeting between the two programs this season and allows the Golden Rams to build on their recent success in front of the home crowd.

Women's Tennis will also return to action midweek, hosting Middle Georgia in a non-conference matchup. The Lady Golden Rams look to continue sharpening their play as they move deeper into the spring schedule.

Track and field will remain on the road, traveling back to Atlanta for the Annual Morehouse Relays from March 26-28. The three-day event will provide another opportunity for Albany State to compete against strong competition while continuing to fine-tune performances across all events.

Later in the week, Golden Rams baseball returns to conference play at home with a three-game series against Clark Atlanta. The series will begin with a single game on Friday, March 27, followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, March 28. Saturday's games will also serve as a special occasion, as Albany State welcomes back alumni and local youth teams for a day of celebration and community engagement at the ballpark.

Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football, with all teams competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
