Jackson, Tenn. - The Albany State Golden Rams wrapped up their weekend series in Jackson, Tennessee, with a hard-fought 5-4 battle against Lane College, showcasing resilience and competitiveness from start to finish.
The Golden Rams struck first in the third inning, as
Luke Addison drove in
Isaiah Haygood with a well-hit double to center field. The early lead reflected Albany State's ability to manufacture offense and apply pressure on the basepaths, something that remained consistent throughout the game.
After Lane answered in the fourth inning, Albany State remained composed and continued to chip away offensively.
Arin Chevers provided a spark in the fifth inning, launching a solo home run to center field to cut into the deficit. His power at the plate once again proved to be a difference-maker, continuing a strong stretch of performances.
The Golden Rams' persistence paid off in the seventh inning when they delivered one of the game's biggest moments.
Camden Houston came through with a clutch two-RBI single up the middle, scoring
Mylon Uribe and
Tyler Turner to tie the game at 4-4. The hit capped off a determined rally and highlighted Albany State's ability to respond in key situations.
Offensively, Albany State produced nine hits and showed patience at the plate with seven walks, creating consistent opportunities throughout the game.
Isaiah Haygood and
Mylon Uribe each recorded two hits, while
Ty Grover reached base multiple times and added a pair of doubles. The Golden Rams also stayed aggressive on the bases, with stolen bases from Haygood and Houston adding to the pressure.
On the mound,
Samuel Crew delivered a solid start, striking out five over five innings while keeping the Golden Rams within striking distance. The bullpen continued that effort, with
Riley Barker and
Dereck Foster combining for four innings of work and four strikeouts, helping to keep the game close into the final frames.
Up next, the Golden Rams return home with momentum as they prepare for a midweek non-conference matchup against Columbus State on Tuesday, March 24.
