Albany, Ga. - The Albany State athletic programs turned in a week filled with competitive performances across multiple sports, highlighted by strong showings from softball and track and field as the Golden Rams continue to move deeper into their spring seasons.
Last week, the Albany State University baseball team faced a challenging slate of road games, beginning with a competitive 9–6 loss to Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. The Golden Rams then opened a conference series against Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, where they battled in a close 5–4 contest before dropping the second game 11–1. Albany State responded in the series finale with resilience, securing a 7–6 victory to close the weekend on a positive note and demonstrate the team's ability to fight through adversity.
On the tennis courts, the Albany State women's tennis team continued to compete against strong competition during a busy week that included a rivalry matchup and tournament play. The Lady Golden Rams opened the week with a 4–3 loss to Savannah State University, a closely contested match that came down to the final courts. Albany State then traveled to Hilton Head, South Carolina, for the PTR Springfest Tournament, where the team fell 5–2 to Liberty University before bouncing back with a strong 5–2 victory over Western New England University, finishing the event with momentum.
The Lady Golden Rams softball team had one of the most active weeks, playing six games during the SIAC Softball Crossover. Albany State opened with an 8–4 win over Miles College, but later faced a setback in a 17–1 loss to Spring Hill College. The Lady Golden Rams regrouped and continued to compete throughout the tournament, falling 3–2 to Tuskegee University before securing a dominant 10–0 victory over Lane College. Albany State impressively closed the tournament with back-to-back wins, defeating LeMoyne-Owen College 9–5 and Kentucky State University 9–1, showcasing a balanced performance both at the plate and in the circle.
Albany State's track and field teams recently showcased impressive performances, with both the men's and women's squads finishing second overall at their latest meet. These strong results highlight the ongoing progress of the Golden Rams program as the outdoor season gains momentum.
Looking ahead, Albany State athletics has a busy weekend planned.

The Golden Rams track and field teams will travel to Emory University to compete in the Emory Spring Break Classic in Atlanta on March 20–21. They aim to build on their recent podium finishes.
The softball team will return to conference play on the road, traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Edward Waters University in a three-game series scheduled for March 20–21. The series will begin on Friday with a single game at 3:00 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The Golden Rams baseball team will be on the road for a weekend series against Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee, on March 21–22. The series will kick off with a doubleheader on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and will conclude on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.
