Savannah, Ga. — The Albany State women's tennis team battled throughout a tightly contested match but came up just short in a 4–3 loss to Savannah State on Wednesday afternoon in Savannah, Georgia.
The Lady Golden Rams showed resilience throughout the competition, putting together several strong performances in singles play and remaining within striking distance until the final point.
Albany State found success early in doubles as the pairing of
Brooklyn Bowen and
Le'Ashia Miller delivered an impressive performance to earn a victory for the Lady Golden Rams. Despite the duo's strong showing, Albany State was unable to secure the doubles point, as Savannah State claimed the other two courts.
The Lady Golden Rams responded with determination during singles competition.
Monique Gundrum led the charge with a strong performance to earn one of Albany State's points.
Brooklyn Bowen continued her strong day on the court with a singles victory, while
Ameerah Mesidor added another key point for the Lady Golden Rams.
The match remained competitive throughout singles play, with Albany State showcasing its depth and fighting to keep the contest close against the Lady Tigers.
Although the Lady Golden Rams fell just short of the win, the team demonstrated continued progress and competitiveness as the season moves forward.
Up next, Albany State will now shift its focus to the PTR Springfest in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Lady Golden Rams are scheduled to face Liberty University on March 12 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a matchup against Western New England University on March 13 at 9:00 a.m.
