Golden Rams Battle Georgia College in Competitive Road Contest

Milledgeville, Ga. — The Albany State Golden Rams put together a strong offensive effort and battled throughout the night, but ultimately fell 6-9 to Georgia College in a tightly contested matchup on Tuesday evening in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Albany State came out strong in the opening inning and quickly set the tone offensively. With a runner on base, Aiden Payne launched a two-run home run to right-center field, bringing home David Cooper and giving the Golden Rams an early 2–0 lead.

Georgia College responded in the third inning to take a one-run advantage, but Albany State refused to back down. The Golden Rams continued to apply pressure at the plate and answered in the fourth inning, tying the game and keeping the momentum on their side.

Over the next several innings, the contest turned into a back-and-forth battle as both teams traded runs in an effort to reclaim the lead.

Albany State regained the momentum in the sixth inning when Perry Usher delivered an RBI single, scoring Mylon Uribe to even the game at 4–4. The Golden Rams continued to manufacture offense in the middle innings as Mylon Uribe drove in another run, reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed Luke Addison to cross the plate.

The Golden Rams kept the pressure on in the seventh inning during one of the most exciting sequences of the night. With runners in scoring position, Uribe came through with an RBI single to right field, scoring Addison and tying the game once again. Moments later, Arin Chevers drew a walk, and a wild pitch allowed Ty Grover to score, pushing Albany State ahead 6–5.

Offensively, the Golden Rams were led by Uribe, who drove in two runs, while Payne's early two-run home run provided a strong start for Albany State. Usher also contributed with an RBI, and Grover and Addison each scored key runs as the lineup produced seven hits and six runs on the night.

Despite the strong effort, Georgia College responded late to regain control and secure the win.

Up next, Albany State will remain on the road as the Golden Rams return to SIAC conference play this weekend, traveling to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Edward Waters in a three-game series scheduled for March 13–14.
