Savannah, Ga. — In a game that came down to the final possession, the Albany State men's basketball team saw its comeback effort fall just short Thursday night, suffering a nail-biting 59–57 road loss to Savannah State inside Tiger Arena.
Albany State showed grit from the opening tip, building an early rhythm and grabbing a 10-point advantage midway through the first half. The Golden Rams led 21–11 with just over six minutes remaining in the opening period and carried that confidence into the locker room, trailing by just three after a tightly contested first half that featured multiple lead changes and physical play on both ends.
Jeremiah Edwards paced Albany State offensively, finishing with a team-high 12 points on an efficient shooting night, including a clutch three-pointer late in the second half that kept the Golden Rams within striking distance.
Joseph Frazier provided a spark off the bench and nearly delivered a dramatic finish, pouring in 15 points and stepping to the free-throw line in the closing seconds with Albany State trailing by two. Frazier calmly knocked down both free throws to tie the game, silencing the Savannah crowd and giving the Golden Rams hope of stealing a road win.
Savannah State, however, responded immediately, converting at the other end in the final moments to reclaim the lead and escape with the two-point victory. .
Beyond Edwards and Frazier,
Cameron Evans contributed eight points while adding energy on both ends of the floor, and
