Albany, Ga. — Albany State University Head Football Coach
David Bowser has announced the addition of three new members to the Golden Rams football staff, strengthening both the on-field coaching presence and the program's day-to-day operations ahead of the upcoming season.
Joining the staff are Marcus Hilliard as Defensive Coordinator,
Christopher Holmes as Associate Head Coach/Offensive Line, and
Markus McElveen as Defensive Line Coach.
Marcus Hilliard brings extensive leadership and defensive expertise to Albany State as the program's new Defensive Coordinator. A veteran coach with head coaching and coordinator experience at the Division II level, Hilliard has built defenses ranked among the nation's best while developing multiple All-Conference and All-American performers. His background includes championship-level success, postseason appearances, and recognition as an AFCA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year.
Christopher Holmes joins the Golden Rams as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach/Running Game Coordinator, bringing a proven track record of offensive success and player development. Holmes has coordinated high-powered offenses at the Division II and Division III levels, consistently ranking among conference and national leaders in scoring, total offense, red-zone efficiency, and third-down conversions. His experience includes developing award-winning quarterbacks, record-breaking skill players, and championship-caliber units.
Markus McElveen adds a strong defensive pedigree to the staff as Defensive Line Coach. Most recently serving as Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Winston-Salem State, McElveen has been part of defensive units ranked No. 1 in the CIAA and among the top defenses nationally. He brings a reputation for developing elite defensive linemen, recruiting excellence, and a player-first approach to mentorship and accountability.
The Golden Rams will begin preparations for the upcoming season with the full staff in place as Albany State continues to build toward sustained success on and off the field.
