Both Albany State basketball programs will take their momentum on the road this week for a pair of important SIAC doubleheaders.

The Golden Rams and Lady Golden Rams open the week with a conference matchup at Savannah State on Thursday, February 5, before continuing the road swing at Edward Waters on February 7. After strong efforts during winter homecoming, both squads will look to carry their energy and execution away from home as the conference race intensifies.

Baseball | Season Opens at Home, Then Southbound
Albany State Baseball officially opens the 2026 season at home with a highly anticipated matchup against Georgia College on Tuesday, February 3, marking the Golden Rams' first chance to compete in front of their home crowd after a historic 2025 campaign.

Following the opener, the Rams will hit the road to Livingston, Alabama, to compete in the UWA Invitational on February 6–7. The tournament will feature matchups against West Alabama and Augusta University, providing an early measuring stick against strong regional competition.

With a mix of returning experience and new contributors, the opening week will offer valuable insight into the Rams' depth, pitching rotation, and offensive identity as they begin the climb toward another postseason run.

The Lady Golden Rams softball team opens the 2026 season on Saturday, February 7, traveling to Tifton, Georgia, for a matchup against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC).

The two programs last met on April 1, 2025, splitting the doubleheader 1–1, setting the stage for another competitive meeting. Albany State will look to establish rhythm early, leaning on disciplined pitching and timely hitting as they begin the season away from home.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football, with all teams competing in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
