Lady Golden Rams Explode for 26 Runs in Dominant Series-Opening Victory at Benedict

Box Score Columbia, S.C. — In a performance that will be remembered for its relentless offense and record-setting power, the Albany State Lady Golden Rams opened their conference series at Benedict College with a commanding 23-0 victory on Saturday.

The Lady Golden Rams erupted in the top of the first, stringing together hit after hit in an offensive showcase that highlighted both depth and discipline. Ari McKenzie ignited the rally with an RBI single, and Avrey Fisher followed with a run-scoring hit of her own. Amari Mapps and Kyla Fitch each delivered doubles that plated multiple runs, while Tranasia Parker and Olivia Mason added doubles to keep the pressure on. Fisher came back around for another RBI single in the inning, and the lineup continued to produce as Abbi Jones was hit by a pitch to drive in a run and Fitch capped the inning with another RBI single. By the time the dust settled, Albany State had built an overwhelming early advantage.

The momentum carried seamlessly into the second inning. Kaylah Howard drove in a run with a single before Fisher delivered the exclamation point — a towering grand slam to center field that brought the dugout to life and pushed the Lady Golden Rams even further ahead.

In the third inning, McKenzie added another RBI single before Fisher struck again, launching her second home run of the day — a three-run blast to center — to give her nine RBIs in the contest. Her two-home-run, nine-RBI performance was nothing short of spectacular and set the tone for a historic offensive afternoon.

Tranasia Parker added to the fireworks in the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field, showcasing the power that ran throughout the lineup.

In the circle, Kenzie Fitch was equally dominant. The starter was flawless across four innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out two and issuing no walks. She commanded the zone with confidence and efficiency, keeping Benedict off balance from start to finish. Mary Scott Hulsey came on in relief to close out the victory and preserve the shutout effort.

Albany State finished the game with 23 hits, a testament to the team's balanced and relentless attack. Erielle Reid, McKenzie, Fitch, Mapps, Jones, Mason, and Parker each recorded multiple hits, underscoring the depth of the lineup. McKenzie also demonstrated patience at the plate, drawing two walks as part of a six-walk team performance. On the bases, the Lady Golden Rams were aggressive and opportunistic, swiping three stolen bases to keep constant pressure on the defense.

Up next, the Lady Golden Rams will look to carry this momentum into tomorrow's doubleheader as the conference series concludes on March 1. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Columbia.
