Lady Golden Rams Power Past Talladega in Dominant Doubleheader Sweep

Talladega, Ala. – The Albany State Lady Golden Rams delivered an emphatic statement on Tuesday afternoon, showcasing explosive offense and poised pitching in a commanding sweep of Talladega College. Albany State overwhelmed the Lady Tornados 14-5 in Game 1 before completing the day with an 11-0 shutout victory in Game 2, displaying confidence and rhythm in all phases.

Albany State's offense surged in the second inning of the first game, quickly turning an early deadlock into a commanding lead. Tranasia Parker ignited the momentum with an RBI double to left field, driving in Kyla Fitch for the first run of the game. Moments later, Genevieve Taylor followed up with a two-run double, further extending the lead. The Lady Golden Rams did not look back after that. They batted around in the inning, showcasing disciplined at-bats and timely hits. Avery Fisher and Mackenzie Nervis contributed with run-scoring hits, while Parker and Taylor continued to fuel the offense. By the end of the inning, Albany State had built a substantial 10-1 lead.

The momentum carried over into the third inning. Abbigale Jones came through with a crucial two-RBI single, followed by Parker's two-run hit, pushing the lead to 14-1. Albany State finished the contest with 14 hits, led by multi-hit performances from McKenzie, Fisher, Nervis, Mapps, Parker, and Taylor. Taylor delivered two doubles and three RBIs, anchoring the middle of the lineup, while Parker matched that with three RBIs of her own.

In the circle, Tamia Pierce set the tone with three strong innings to earn the win, giving up just one run while keeping Talladega off balance. Mary Scott Hulsey battled through the fourth inning, and Kye Gordon closed out the game with a clean fifth inning, preserving the victory.

If Game 1 highlighted Albany State's depth, Game 2 showcased its dominance.

The Lady Golden Rams wasted no time taking control, with Abbigale Jones launching a leadoff home run to left-center in the first inning. The early fireworks continued as Kyla Fitch singled in another run, and Avery Fisher showcased smart base running by stealing home. Albany State's aggressive yet composed approach quickly built a 4-0 lead.

The power display escalated with Parker taking center stage. In the third inning, she crushed a two-run homer to extend the lead, then returned in the fourth inning to hit another towering blast. Nervis also joined the home run parade with a two-run shot, capping off a relentless offensive barrage. Parker finished the game with two home runs and four RBIs, while McKenzie and Fisher each collected multiple hits to keep the pressure on the defense.

Meanwhile, Albany State's pitching staff was nearly unhittable. McKenzie Fitch delivered three scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while recording two strikeouts. Savannah Barr was flawless in relief, tossing two hitless innings to secure the shutout. The Lady Golden Rams' defense supported the pitchers with steady, error-free play.

By the end of the day, Albany State had accumulated 27 runs over the doubleheader, demonstrating power, speed, and execution in one of its most complete performances of the young season.

Up Next: Albany State heads to Covington, Georgia, to compete in the 3rd Annual Leonard Moody HBCU Collegiate Invitational (February 13–15, 2026), where the Lady Golden Rams will face Elizabeth City State, Virginia State, Virginia Union, and Southern.
