ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany State University women's volleyball team looks to close out the 2026 regular season on a high note as the Golden Rams travel to Jacksonville, Florida, to face Edward Waters University on Thursday, November 5, at 6 p.m.
Albany State (23-8, 18-1 SIAC) enters the matchup riding an impressive 14-match winning streak, having not suffered a defeat since September 19 against Spring Hill College. The Golden Rams have continued to dominate conference competition, most recently sweeping Savannah State University in straight sets on Senior Night.
Under head coach Verniece Graham, the Golden Rams have put together one of their strongest stretches of the season, combining a balanced offensive attack with consistent defensive performances. Senior outside hitter Jarianis Perez continues to lead the offensive charge, while setters Trinity Britt and Liannette Burgos have helped keep the offense flowing. Defensively, Myra Lopez and Shaniya Banks have played key roles in the team's success.
Edward Waters (13-11, 12-6 SIAC) enters Thursday's contest following a five-set victory over Fort Valley State on November 3. The Tigers have been competitive throughout conference play, led offensively by Norah Laurore and Heylianis Aquino, while setter Naraiya Thompson has helped direct the attack. Edward Waters has also been effective from the service line, making serve receive an important factor for Albany State.
The two programs previously met on October 15 in Albany, where the Golden Rams earned a 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Albany State claimed the opening two sets before Edward Waters responded in the third, but the Golden Rams secured the fourth set to earn the conference win.
With the SIAC Volleyball Championship approaching, Albany State will look to extend its winning streak to 15 matches and carry its momentum into postseason play.
