Albany, Ga. – The Albany State men's basketball team put together a week that showcased resilience, competitive fire, and steady growth, culminating in an electric Winter Homecoming victory over rival Fort Valley State. While the final results varied, the Golden Rams consistently competed, shared the ball, and delivered big-time performances on both ends of the floor.

The week opened with a hard-fought 77–73 battle against Fort Valley State, where Albany State matched intensity from tip to buzzer. Shakur Poteat led the way with 18 points, knocking down three triples and going 7-of-10 at the free-throw line. Christian Gary continued his efficient play with 11 points, while Khimani Hopkinson provided a strong spark off the bench with nine points and six rebounds. The
Golden Rams shot over 45 percent from the field and traded momentum throughout a game that featured seven ties and five lead changes.

Midweek, Albany State carried that same edge into a tightly contested matchup against Clark Atlanta. Kendale Johnson delivered one of the standout performances of the season, pouring in a career-high 26 points while draining seven three-pointers. Jeremiah Edwards added 14 points and five steals, and Cameron Evans chipped in 12 points and four assists. The Golden Rams shot 50 percent from the floor, forced turnovers that led to 33 points, and showcased their depth and pace in a game that featured 13 lead changes.

The week ended on a high note as Albany State defended home court during Winter Homecoming, edging Fort Valley State 80–78 in a thrilling rivalry win. Poteat and Johnson each scored 17 points, combining perimeter shooting with composure at the free-throw line late. Gary added 12 points and strong interior play, while Evans matched him with 12 of his own. The Golden Rams were sharp in the second half, shooting 52 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc, executing when it mattered most to seal the victory in front of the home crowd.

Albany State's balanced scoring, improved efficiency, and ability to respond in big moments highlighted a week full of positives and momentum-building performances.
