This Week in Golden Rams Athletics: Conference Battles, Rivalries, and Celebration at Home

Albany, Ga. -Albany State University Athletics is set for a busy and meaningful week of competition, highlighted by three conference doubleheaders, rivalry matchups, and a special night celebrating the campus community and student-athlete excellence.

Both the Lady Golden Rams and the Golden Rams enter the week eager to turn the momentum in their favor as SIAC play continues to intensify. Week Opens with Rivalry Doubleheader vs. Fort Valley State
The week begins with a highly anticipated conference doubleheader against Peach County rival Fort Valley State University, renewing one of the most storied rivalries in the SIAC. The matchup presents an opportunity for both programs to reset the tone as the calendar turns toward the heart of conference play.

The Lady Golden Rams come into the week looking to bounce back after splitting their previous contests, picking up a hard-fought win over Spring Hill before falling short against Tuskegee. With conference positioning at stake, Albany State will look to lean on its defensive intensity and balanced scoring to make a statement against its rival.

On the men's side, the Golden Rams are seeking to regain momentum after recent losses to Tuskegee and Morehouse. The rivalry atmosphere provides the perfect setting for a response, as Albany State aims to translate energy and execution into results on the court.
 
Rams Return Home for Special Event Night vs. Clark Atlanta
Albany State returns home on January 29 to host Clark Atlanta University in a conference doubleheader that promises to be more than just basketball. The evening will feature a trio of special recognitions, making it one of the most anticipated home dates of the season.

Fans in attendance will help celebrate: Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night, honoring the dedication and support of the university community; The Academic Parade of Champions, recognizing student-athletes who achieved a 3.0–4.0 GPA; Coaches vs. Cancer, as Albany State Athletics joins the nationwide initiative supporting cancer awareness and research.

The combination of competition and celebration underscores the department's commitment to excellence both on and off the court.

Winter Homecoming Closes the Week Against Fort Valley State
The week concludes with the Winter Homecoming doubleheader, as Albany State once again squares off against Fort Valley State, closing the stretch with another rivalry showdown. The matchup serves as both a celebration of Ram pride and a pivotal conference contest as the season moves forward.

With rivalry games, home events, and conference implications all on the schedule, the week ahead offers plenty of opportunities for Ram Nation to rally behind its teams.

ABOUT ALBANY STATE ATHLETICS
Albany State University is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II-level intercollegiate athletic program. The university currently fields teams in 11 sports: women's volleyball, women's tennis, women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, softball, men's and women's track and field, women's soccer, baseball, and football with all teams compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), except women's soccer, which participates in the Peach Belt Conference.
