Golden Rams Set for Redemption-Filled Week with MLK Day Doubleheader and Road Test in Atlanta

Albany, Ga. – Albany State Athletics turns the page on a challenging but telling week of conference play as the Golden Rams prepare for two pivotal matchups that could shape the trajectory of the SIAC season. Following a split week for the women's program and back-to-back narrow losses for the men, Albany State heads into a high-energy MLK Day doubleheader against Tuskegee University on Monday, January 19, before closing the week with a road trip to Atlanta to face Morehouse College on Thursday, January 22.
Women's Basketball Preview: Lady Golden Rams Look to Build Momentum and Set the Tone
The Lady Golden Rams return to action after finishing last week 1–1, a stretch that showcased both resilience and growth. After suffering a tough setback against Miles College, Albany State responded in impressive fashion with a gritty, hard-fought win over Spring Hill, demonstrating composure, defensive toughness, and late-game execution. That bounce-back performance has the Lady Rams trending in the right direction as they continue to assert themselves as a factor in the SIAC race.

Monday's MLK Day showdown carries added weight, as it marks a rematch of last season's SIAC Tournament first-round contest, where Tuskegee ended Albany State's postseason run. That loss remains fresh, and the Lady Rams enter this matchup fueled by both motivation and opportunity.

With confidence growing and chemistry strengthening, the Lady Golden Rams are eager to extend their win streak and rewrite the narrative against a familiar postseason foe.

Men's Basketball Preview: Golden Rams Seek Reset and Response in Key Conference Matchups
The Golden Rams head into the week determined to regroup after a pair of competitive losses to Miles and Spring Hill. Despite the results, Albany State showed flashes of strong execution, defensive intensity, and late-game fight—elements the team will aim to convert into results as conference play continues. This week presents two chances to respond against teams that have already proven to be obstacles this season.

Monday's contest against Tuskegee marks the first meeting since the SIAC Conference Tournament, where the Golden Tigers edged Albany State 70–68 in a tightly contested battle. That result closed out a season trilogy that favored Tuskegee 2–1, adding extra significance to Monday's matchup.

The week concludes with a solo road trip to Atlanta for a rematch against Morehouse College. The Maroon Tigers handed Albany State its conference-opening loss earlier this season, making Thursday's matchup another opportunity for redemption.
