Albany, Ga. – The Albany State University women's volleyball team opened the SIAC East Cluster Crossover with back-to-back wins, defeating Tuskegee University 3-0 and Miles College 3-1 inside the Jones Brothers HPER Complex on Thursday. With the victories, the Lady Golden Rams improve to 4-8 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
In the morning matchup, ASU set the tone early with a hard-fought sweep over Tuskegee (25-21, 26-24, 25-22). The Lady Golden Rams were led by
Jarianis Perez, who dominated with 17 kills on a .519 hitting percentage, while
Maya Ogbogu added 10 kills.
Liannette Burgos orchestrated the offense with 19 assists and contributed two service aces, while libero
Myra Lopez anchored the back row with 12 digs. ASU's efficient attack and poise in key moments allowed them to edge Tuskegee in tightly contested sets.
In the afternoon session, Albany State battled Miles in a four-set contest, prevailing 3-1 (25-6, 27-25, 18-25, 25-17). Perez once again paced the offense with 11 kills and five service aces, while Ogbogu tallied seven kills and four aces.
Josiya Teague and
Erin Johnson chipped in nine and eight kills, respectively, while Lopez collected 13 digs to keep rallies alive. The Golden Rams' balanced attack and aggressive serving proved too much for the Bears, securing their second win of the day

With momentum building, Albany State will return to action on Friday, September 26, facing Kentucky State at 9:00 a.m. before concluding tournament play against Central State at 2:00 p.m. inside HPER Complex.
