Lady Golden Rams Complete Dominant Series Sweep Over Clark Atlanta in Albany

Albany, GAThe Albany State Lady Golden Rams delivered a statement performance at home this weekend, completing a three-game sweep over Clark Atlanta University at the ASU Softball Complex. The series featured a combination of explosive offense, timely comebacks, and clutch pitching, capped off by a memorable Senior Day celebration on Saturday.

The sweep improves Albany State's record to 20-10 overall, as the team continues its strong push toward postseason play. The Lady Panthers, meanwhile, fall to 5-29 on the season.

Game 1 – Lady Golden Rams 8, Clark Atlanta 0 (5 Innings)
The series opener was all Albany State from the first pitch, as the Lady Golden Rams blanked the Lady Panthers in a run-rule victory. ASU's bats came alive early and often, plating eight runs while holding Clark Atlanta to just three hits.

The shutout win was anchored by a stellar pitching performance and solid defense behind the plate. Albany State capitalized on key opportunities with runners on base, forcing multiple errors and executing in scoring situations to end the game in just five innings.

Game 2 – Lady Golden Rams 9, Clark Atlanta 3
In Game 2, the Lady Panthers appeared poised to even the series, carrying a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth. But Albany State had other plans.

The Lady Golden Rams erupted for a six-run sixth inning, sparked by aggressive base running, timely hitting, and a resilient approach at the plate. The comeback was highlighted by a go-ahead RBI, followed by a string of hits that broke the game open. ASU tacked on an insurance run in the seventh to seal the 9-3 comeback win, showing poise and depth in the late innings.

Game 3 – Lady Golden Rams 14, Clark Atlanta 6 (Senior Day)
The series finale proved to be the most thrilling of the weekend, as the Lady Golden Rams overcame a 6-1 deficit to finish off the sweep in dominant fashion. Clark Atlanta jumped ahead early, but the home team responded in the bottom of the third with a powerful rally. Walks and key hits helped tie the game before Albany State surged ahead with a go-ahead run.

The Lady Golden Rams never looked back, adding three more runs in the fourth inning and finishing the job with two additional runs in the fifth and sixth frames. It was a complete team effort, fitting for Senior Day, as the team celebrated its veterans with a big win and a 14-run explosion.

Up Next:
The Lady Golden Rams now turn their attention to their long-time Peach State rivals, Fort Valley State University, in a highly anticipated three-game SIAC series set for April 12–13. With momentum from this weekend's sweep, ASU looks to continue their dominance and secure key wins down the stretch.
