Golden Rams Close Regular Season with Tough Series Against Spring Hill

Mobile, Ala. – April 25, 2025 – The Albany State Golden Rams wrapped up the regular season with a hard-fought three-game series against the Spring Hill College Badgers at Sims-Galle Field in Mobile, Alabama. The Golden Rams finished the weekend 1-2, bringing their overall record to 26-20 and 21-12 in SIAC play. Meanwhile, the Badgers improved to 36-12 overall and 29-3 in the conference.
 
Game 1: Albany State 8, Spring Hill 4
The Golden Rams came out swinging in the series opener, overcoming an early three-run deficit to secure a statement 8-4 win. After a tough start in the first inning, Albany State responded in the second with three runs of their own, fueled by aggressive base running and timely hitting. The turning point came in the fourth inning when Luke Addison blasted a grand slam to center field, giving ASU a 7-3 lead. Starter Gercal Reyes improved to 6-0 on the season after tossing four innings, allowing three runs while striking out four. Calvin Baker and Andrew McBride combined to shut the door over the final five innings, limiting the Badgers to just one more run. Offensively, Addison led the way with four RBIs, while Hill Corley added two hits and a run scored..
 
Game 2: Albany State 2, Spring Hill 4
In the first game of Friday's doubleheader, the Rams struggled to capitalize on early opportunities, falling 4-2. Despite tallying nine hits, Albany State stranded runners in key moments. Emory Stephens and Tyler Turner each recorded two hits, with Turner also driving in a run. Starter Brady Davis (3-5) took the loss after allowing three runs across 4.2 innings. The Golden Rams' defense also committed two errors that proved costly.

Game 3: Albany State 3, Spring Hill 5
In the series finale, Albany State mounted a strong comeback attempt but ultimately fell 5-3. Isaiah Haygood provided the spark for the offense with a three-run home run in the fourth inning to pull the Rams within a run. However, Spring Hill added an insurance run in the fifth to stay ahead. Austin Lee started the game and allowed four runs across three innings, while William Beasley and Chase Ledger combined for three innings of effective relief.
 
Up Next:
The Golden Rams now turn their focus to the postseason as they prepare for the 2025 SIAC Baseball Championship, taking place May 1–4 at Luther Williams Field in Macon, GA. Albany State enters the tournament as the #4 seed and will look to make a deep run toward the conference title.
