Golden Rams Sweep Kentucky State in Home Finale Series

Albany, GA — The Albany State University baseball team closed out its 2025 home schedule in emphatic fashion, sweeping Kentucky State University in a three-game SIAC series at the ASU West Campus Baseball Complex. With the sweep, the Golden Rams improve to 25-18 overall and 20-10 in conference play, while the Thorobreds drop to 3-36 overall and 1-27 in league action.

Albany State dominated from start to finish, combining power hitting, solid pitching, and disciplined at-bats to outscore the visitors 46-1 over the three games.

Game 1: Albany State 9, Kentucky State 0
The series opener saw Matt Delay set the tone early with a solo home run in the first inning — the first of two for him in the game. Albany State added runs steadily across innings, with Luke Addison's RBI triple in the second and a productive four-run eighth inning to seal the win.

On the mound, Gercal Reyes was outstanding, improving to 5-0 with a 7.0-inning, four-hit, 10-strikeout shutout. Calvin Baker followed with two scoreless innings of relief.

Game 2: Albany State 5, Kentucky State 1
Albany State jumped out early again in Game 2, plating four runs in the first inning, including an RBI triple from Austin Roberts and an RBI single by Hill Corley. The Rams extended their lead in the third before Kentucky State broke up the shutout in the fourth.

Landon Kiefer moved to 9-1 on the year with a solid 5.0-inning outing, scattering five hits while striking out six. Three relievers combined to close out the final two innings, preserving the win.

Game 3: Albany State 32, Kentucky State 0
The Golden Rams saved their biggest statement for the series finale, exploding for a season-high 32 runs on 30 hits in a six-inning rout. ASU put up 10 runs in the first inning alone, highlighted by a three-run homer from Luke Addison, who later added another three-run blast in the third.

Every Golden Ram in the lineup contributed, with multiple RBIs from Delay, Addison, Corley, Saavedra, and Little. The team scored in five of six innings, including a 12-run third and a 12-run sixth, forcing an early run-rule conclusion.
Brady Davis picked up the win, throwing 4.0 shutout innings with five strikeouts, while Austin Lee and Andrew McBride combined for three scoreless frames in relief.

Up Next:
Albany State will hit the road for its regular-season finale, traveling to Mobile, AL, to face Spring Hill College in a critical three-game SIAC series on April 24-25. The outcome will play a major role in the final conference standings and seeding for the upcoming 2025 SIAC Baseball Championship Tournament.
