Birmingham, AL – The Albany State Golden Rams baseball team turned in one of its most complete performances of the season this weekend, sweeping Miles College in a pivotal three-game SIAC series in Birmingham. With the victories, Albany State improves to 22-18 overall and 17-10 in SIAC play, solidifying its position as one of the top teams in the conference standings as postseason play approaches.
Game 1: Albany State 10, Miles 4
The Golden Rams set the tone early in the series opener as
Matt Delay launched a solo home run in the top of the first to ignite the offense. After a brief 2-1 deficit, Albany State responded with a massive five-run third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Luke Addison and a sacrifice fly from
Hill Corley. The Rams kept the pressure on with multi-hit games from Delay, Corley, and
Emory Stephens, while
Tyler Turner's two-RBI single in the 8th sealed the win. On the mound,
Gercal Reyes earned the win, improving to 4-0 with a solid 7.0-inning performance, allowing four runs and striking out five.
Calvin Baker closed the game with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
Game 2: Albany State 6, Miles 2
In a tighter contest in Game 2, Miles struck first with a two-run double in the third, but Albany State answered in the fourth with an RBI double from
Emory Stephens. The Golden Rams broke through in the sixth, scoring two unearned runs, including an RBI single from Addison Roberts, to take a 3-2 lead. The Rams then added insurance in the seventh with a clutch two-RBI double from Nate Saavedra and a run scored on a defensive miscue.
Andrew McBride picked up the win in relief, throwing 5.0 shutout innings with seven strikeouts, backing up a solid start by
Brady Davis.
Game 3: Albany State 15, Miles 0
The series finale was an offensive explosion for the Golden Rams, who scored six runs in the second inning and never looked back. Albany State racked up 17 hits, with
Luke Addison leading the way with three hits and four RBIs, while Saavedra, Stephens, and
Tyler Turner each drove in multiple runs. On the mound,
Landon Kiefer was lights out, improving to 8-1 with a dominant 6.0 innings, two-hit, 10-strikeout performance.
Austin Lee closed the door with a scoreless seventh to complete the shutout.

The Golden Rams return home for their final regular season series, hosting Kentucky State for a three-game SIAC set on April 18-19 at the ASU West Campus Baseball Complex. The series opens with a Friday doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. and concludes on Saturday, April 19, at 11:00 a.m. with Senior Day celebrations.
