Cochran, GA - The Albany State Lady Golden Rams ended their five-game losing streak in commanding fashion, securing an 82-71 road victory over Middle Georgia State in their final non-conference matchup of the season. With the win, ASU improved to 7-12 overall, while the Lady Knights fell to 1-16.
The Lady Golden Rams set the tone early, dominating the first half and building a commanding 46-25 lead by halftime. Despite a late push from Middle Georgia State in the fourth quarter, their offensive efficiency and defensive intensity helped them maintain control throughout the game.
Breana Griffin led ASU with 15 points, including an impressive 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, while
Quantrese Washington added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kayla Herrera contributed a balanced performance with 10 points, five assists, and two steals. ASU's depth was on full display, as the bench accounted for 55 of the team's 82 points.
Middle Georgia State made a strong second-half effort, outscoring Albany State 24-23 in the third quarter and 22-13 in the final period. ZaKyria Johnson paced the Lady Knights with 22 points and eight rebounds, but ASU's defensive pressure forced 24 turnovers, leading to 28 points off takeaways.

With the non-conference schedule now complete, the Lady Golden Rams shift their focus back to SIAC play. They will return to action on Monday, February 10, for a conference showdown against a tough opponent inside Jones Brother HPER Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM as ASU looks to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.
