Albany State Falls to Clark Atlanta on Greek Night, 78-62

Albany, GA – The Albany State University Lady Golden Rams battled hard but ultimately fell short against Clark Atlanta University, suffering a 78-62 loss on Monday night at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams drop to 7-13 overall and 4-10 in SIAC play, while the Lady Panthers improve to 18-5 overall and 11-3 in the conference.

The game played in front of an electric Greek Night crowd of roaring fans, saw Clark Atlanta take control early and maintain their lead. The Lady Panthers' balanced attack and efficient shooting proved too much for Albany State to overcome.

The Lady Golden Rams kept it close in the opening quarter, trailing just 17-12 after the first 10 minutes. However, a dominant second quarter by Clark Atlanta saw them outscore Albany State 22-9, taking a commanding 39-21 lead into halftime. Albany State found some offensive rhythm in the second half, particularly in the third quarter, where they put up 19 points, but Clark Atlanta continued to respond with key baskets, maintaining control of the game.

Keyra Peterson led the way for Albany State with a double-double, scoring 16 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Yasmine Fairchild added 10 points and three rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint. Na'Haviya Paxton contributed eight points, six rebounds, and four assists, while also recording four steals. Johanna Bell and Kayla Herrera each chipped in six points, with Herrera adding a strong defensive presence off the bench.

For Clark Atlanta, Trinity Jones was the standout performer, leading all scorers with 22 points, including two three-pointers. Brooklyn McKinley provided a major spark off the bench with 20 points, hitting five shots from beyond the arc.

The Lady Golden Rams remain home as they prepare to host Benedict College on Saturday, February 15, for Senior Day. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM at the Jones Brothers HPER Complex, where ASU will honor its seniors in their final home stretch of the season.
