Albany, GA - Albany State Softball returns to action on Thursday, February 6, as the Lady Golden Rams host the Lady Tornadoes of Talladega College for a non-conference doubleheader at West Campus Softball Field. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM, with Game 2 to follow immediately after.
The Lady Golden Rams enter the matchup looking for their first win of the season after falling in their home-opening series against Southern Wesleyan. Despite the tough start, Albany State is eager to turn things around and build momentum early in the season.
Tomorrow's doubleheader marks just the second-ever meeting between Albany State and Talladega. The two programs last faced off on March 24, 2024, in a thrilling series that ended in a 1-1 split. Albany State dominated Game 1 with an 11-2 victory, but Talladega bounced back in Game 2 to edge out a narrow 10-9 win. With both teams already familiar with each other's style of play, this rematch is expected to be another competitive battle on the diamond.
The Lady Golden Rams will look to rely on their veteran leadership and offensive firepower to break into the win column. Key players such as
Romona McLeod,
Keyatta Ayers, and
Madison Hurt are expected to play a crucial role both at the plate and on the mound. The pitching staff, led by Kaliyah Barnes, will aim to keep the Lady Tornadoes' bats in check while Albany State's lineup looks to produce runs early and often.
