Golden Rams Rally Past Quincy for 7-5 Victory, Extend Winning Streak

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams continued their strong early-season form, securing a 7-5 comeback victory over Quincy University on Tuesday, February 18 at West Campus Baseball Field. With the win, ASU improved to 7-3 overall, extending their winning streak, while Quincy fell to 2-5 on the season.

The Golden Rams found themselves trailing 5-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before exploding for six runs to seize control of the game. Austin Roberts led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Hill Corley added a key RBI triple to spark the rally.

Quincy struck first, scoring one run in the second inning and adding two more in the third, capitalizing on ASU errors and aggressive base running. The Hawks extended their lead to 4-1 in the fourth and later made it 5-1 in the sixth, putting the Golden Rams on the ropes.

However, Albany State responded in the bottom of the sixth inning, starting with a leadoff single by Matt Delay, followed by back-to-back hits from Roberts and Corley to cut the deficit to 5-3. The Golden Rams loaded the bases and took advantage of wild pitches and timely at-bats, bringing home four more runs to take a 7-5 lead.

On the mound, Andrew McBride (2-0) earned the win after delivering 1.1 innings of scoreless relief, while Calvin Baker recorded his third save of the season, closing out the game with two shutout innings. The ASU bullpen was instrumental in securing the victory, with McBride, Baker, and J. Reddell combining for five strikeouts and allowing just two hits in the final four innings.
