Golden Rams Sweep Saturday Doubleheader Against Lane College

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams continued their dominance in conference play, securing two wins over Lane College in a Saturday doubleheader at the West Campus Baseball Field. ASU cruised to an 11-1 victory in Game 1 before closing out the day with a hard-fought 8-5 win in Game 2. With the sweep, Albany State improves to 9-3 overall, 5-0 SIAC while Lane College remains winless at 0-7, 0-5 SIAC.
 
Game 1: Albany State 11, Lane College 1
The Golden Rams wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, delivering a dominant performance on both sides of the ball. Pitcher Brady Davis (1-1) earned the win, throwing four innings while allowing just two hits and one earned run with four strikeouts. Gercal Reyes started the game and pitched three scoreless innings before turning it over to Davis, who closed out the win.
 
Albany State's offense exploded for 15 hits, led by Hill Corley, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Matt Delay added two hits and three RBIs, while Austin Roberts and Luke Addison each recorded two hits and an RBI. The Golden Rams steadily built their lead, plating at least one run in five of the seven innings, before sealing the victory with a five-run seventh inning.
 
Lane College managed just four hits, with their lone run coming in the seventh inning on an RBI single from Anderson Jorge.
 
Game 2: Albany State 8, Lane College 5
The second game proved to be a tougher battle, but the Golden Rams showed resilience to complete the sweep. Landon Kiefer (3-0) picked up the win, pitching five innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits while striking out nine. Andrew McBride and Calvin Baker combined for the final two innings, with Baker securing the save despite Lane's late push.
 
Albany State struck first with two runs in the opening inning, but Lane responded with three runs in the second to take an early lead. The Golden Rams regained control in the fourth, scoring two runs to reclaim the lead at 4-3, before extending their advantage with two more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
 
Offensively, Austin Roberts led the charge, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Isaiah Haygood added two hits and two RBIs. Matt Delay, Emory Stephens, and Xander Little each contributed key hits, helping Albany State fend off Lane's late two-run push in the seventh inning.

The Golden Rams will look to sweep the weekend series as they face Lane College in the series finale on Sunday, February 23, at 11 AM at the West Campus Baseball Field.
