Albany State Sweeps Tuskegee to Open SIAC Play 3-0

Albany, GA – The Albany State Golden Rams dominated their opening Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series, sweeping Tuskegee University in a three-game set at West Campus Baseball Field. With the victories, Albany State improves to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in SIAC play, while Tuskegee falls to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

Game 1: Albany State 11, Tuskegee 3
The Golden Rams set the tone early in the series with an 11-3 victory on Friday night. Albany State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Matt Delay, Luke Addison, Trenten Justice, and Ty Turner all contributed key hits, with Justice driving in three runs. On the mound, L. Kiefer (2-0) delivered an impressive performance, throwing seven innings, allowing just four hits and three runs (two earned) while striking out eight. Closer C. Baker sealed the win with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts.

Game 2: Albany State 7, Tuskegee 3
Tuskegee struck first in Saturday's opening game, scoring two unearned runs in the first inning. However, Albany State quickly responded in the second with a sacrifice fly from Emory Stephens to cut the deficit to 2-1. In the fifth inning, Matt Delay delivered a clutch two-run homer to left field, giving the Golden Rams their first lead of the game at 3-2. Delay wasn't finished, adding another solo homer in the seventh to extend the lead. Luke Addison followed with a solo shot in the eighth, and Albany State tacked on two more runs to secure a 7-3 win.

Game 3: Albany State 4, Tuskegee 3
In the final game of the series, Albany State edged out Tuskegee in a 4-3 nail-biter. The Golden Rams took an early 1-0 lead in the third inning, but Tuskegee responded in the fourth with a two-run double from Devon Lee to pull ahead 2-1.
Albany State answered quickly in the bottom of the fourth when Luke Addison homered to left field, tying the game at 2-2. In the fifth inning, Xander Little's sacrifice fly scored Emory Stephens, followed by Matt Delay's solo home run, putting the Golden Rams up 4-2. Tuskegee added a run in the sixth but could not complete the comeback, as the Albany State bullpen shut the door to complete the sweep.

Matt Delay led the Golden Rams offensively, recording three home runs and multiple RBIs across the series. Albany State's pitching staff was dominant, holding Tuskegee to just nine runs over three games. With the sweep, ASU extended their series record against Tuskegee to 42-9 dating back to 2002.
