Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Golden Rams Show Resilience in First Half but Fall to Clark Atlanta on the Road

ATLANTA, Ga. — Albany State men's basketball showed some of its best stretches of the young season, taking a four-point lead into halftime before ultimately falling 86–66 to Clark Atlanta inside L.S. Epps Gymnasium. Despite the final score, the Golden Rams delivered several bright spots, highlighted by strong guard play, a relentless effort on the glass, and one of their more confident offensive performances to date.

Albany State came out poised and aggressive, attacking the paint early and knocking down timely shots to build a 37–33 halftime advantage. The Rams' energy on both ends of the floor helped them control long stretches of the opening period, with multiple players stepping up to carry the scoring load.

Kendale Johnson led the Golden Rams with a team-high 20 points, showing his versatility as a scorer by connecting from three-point range, getting downhill for finishes, and converting at the free-throw line (6–6). His activity on the boards also stood out, grabbing 7 rebounds to tie for the team lead.

Shakur Poteat delivered a gritty two-way performance, finishing with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-best 6 assists, helping keep the offense moving throughout the night. He also contributed on defense with his hustle and on-ball pressure.

Cameron Evans added 11 points of his own and pulled down 4 rebounds, giving the Golden Rams another steady scoring option. His aggressiveness in getting to the rim helped Albany State build momentum during its first-half surge.

Inside, Christian Gary played one of his most efficient games of the season, scoring 9 points on 4–5 shooting while grabbing 6 rebounds. His presence around the rim helped Albany State finish with 38 total rebounds, keeping the Rams competitive on the glass all evening.

Though the second half swung in Clark Atlanta's favor, the Golden Rams showcased stretches of strong execution, resilience, and promising signs as the team continues to grow and seek its breakthrough victory.

Up Next: Albany State will now take a short break before returning home to the friendly confines of the Jones Brothers HPER Complex. The Golden Rams are back in action on December 11, hosting Savannah State in another SIAC showdown.
