Columbia, S.C. — The Albany State women's basketball team continued its upward climb in conference play Wednesday night, earning an 81–79 road victory over Allen University and extending its current win streak behind a balanced offensive attack and consistent defensive pressure.
Albany State set the tone early by attacking the paint and pushing the tempo, finishing the night with 44 points in the paint and 18 fast-break points.
Na'Haviya Paxton led the charge with a game-high 23 points, shooting an efficient 9-of-15 from the field while adding nine rebounds. Paxton's ability to score through contact and control the pace gave the Lady Golden Rams a steady presence whenever the game tightened.
Jada Morgan added 12 points, showing her composure at the free-throw line by converting all six attempts, while also contributing on the glass and defensively. Freshman
Sariah Johnson made her presence felt inside, pulling down nine rebounds to go with nine points, helping Albany State control the boards during critical stretches.
The backcourt continued to provide strong leadership, as
Tiffani Goodman dished out six assists, scored eight points, and came up with four steals, creating transition opportunities and disrupting Allen's offensive rhythm. Off the bench,
Kamya Young delivered a spark with nine points, knocking down all three of her shots from beyond the arc, while
Khyla Ragins chipped in seven points to keep the offensive balance intact.
Albany State also received a strong rebounding effort from
Aniyah Barron, who grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds, helping the Lady Golden Rams win second-chance opportunities and maintain control in a contest that featured multiple lead changes and tightly contested possessions.
As a team, Albany State's depth and execution proved decisive, with 27 bench points and consistent scoring across the lineup, allowing the Lady Golden Rams to pull away late and secure another important SIAC victory.
