Albany State’s Second-Half Surge Not Enough in Road Match at Edward Waters

Jacksonville, Fla. – The Albany State women's soccer team showed resilience and fight in the second half but ultimately fell short in a 4-2 road loss to Edward Waters on Saturday afternoon at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.

After trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Lady Golden Rams found their rhythm offensively in the second period, refusing to go quietly. Freshman forward Jordyn Keene led the Albany State attack, scoring both goals for the Lady Golden Rams — one in the 71st minute and another in the 86th minute — bringing her total to three goals on the season. Nelia Dailey was credited with the assist on Keene's second goal, continuing her growth as a creative playmaker.

Albany State displayed a significantly improved offensive performance during the contest, recording a total of seven shots, six of which were on goal. Jada Goodman led the team with three shots, two of which were on target. Emmi Sullivan and Jada Thompson each contributed one shot on goal. In goal, Leire Rodríguez Najera delivered a strong performance, making two saves and providing crucial support to the defense.

Despite the early deficit, the Lady Golden Rams displayed determination and discipline, especially in the second half, outshooting Edward Waters 4-2 after the break.

Up next, Albany State returns to conference play and remains on the road to face the University of North Georgia on Wednesday, October 8, at 5:00 PM in Dahlonega, Georgia.
