JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Albany State women's volleyball team battled hard in a tightly contested conference matchup but ultimately fell 3-0 (25-27, 25-27, 15-25) to Edward Waters University on Thursday evening inside the Adams-Jenkins Complex. With the loss, the Lady Golden Rams drop to 11-11 overall and 10-3 in SIAC play, while the Lady Tigers improve to 6-12 and 6-7 in the conference.
Despite the setback, the Lady Golden Rams delivered a gritty performance with balanced contributions across the roster.
Jarianis Perez led the team with 12 kills and added seven digs and an ace.
Josiya Teague followed with eight kills, while
Jayda Watson chipped in six kills and two blocks.
Kaylin Teasley provided a defensive boost at the net with three total blocks, while
Talia Smith anchored the back row with nine digs.
Natalie Onozie and
Liannette Burgos combined for 14 assists to help pace the offense.
The Lady Golden Rams opened strong, pushing Edward Waters to extra points in both the first and second sets, showcasing their resilience and defensive effort before falling in a close third set.
Up next, Albany State returns home to host Clark Atlanta University on Wednesday, October 30, inside the HPER Complex. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. as the Lady Golden Rams look to bounce back and continue their impressive conference run.
