Lady Golden Rams Fall to Georgia College in Conference Road Match

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Albany State women's soccer team dropped a 5–0 decision to Georgia College on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Field. Despite a resilient defensive effort in the first half, the Lady Golden Rams couldn't withstand the Bobcats' second-half surge in the Peach Belt Conference matchup.

After a scoreless opening half, Georgia College broke through early in the second, scoring five goals between the 47th and 89th minutes. Albany State goalkeeper Leire Rodriguez Najera turned in another strong performance, recording 11 saves against 34 total shots faced, while Audrey Rhoden posted the Lady Rams' lone shot on goal.
The defensive unit, led by Emmi Sullivan, Raylin Watts, and Gabby Toney, kept the Bobcats in check through the opening 45 minutes before fatigue and pressure began to mount late in the match.

With the loss, Albany State moved to 2-9-1 overall and 0-6-1 in the Peach Belt Conference, while Georgia College improved to 7-3-3 (5-0-2 PBC).

Up Next: The Lady Golden Rams remain on the road for a midweek conference matchup against Clayton State on Wednesday, October 22, in Morrow, Ga. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
