Lady Golden Rams Battle to Draw in Senior Day Showdown Against Middle Georgia State

Albany, Ga. — The Albany State women's soccer team delivered a gritty performance on Senior Day and Officials Appreciation Day, fighting to a 1-1 draw against Middle Georgia State on Saturday evening at the ASU Soccer Complex. The Lady Golden Rams showed resilience and composure in a physical, end-to-end contest that featured six yellow cards and multiple momentum shifts.

After conceding a goal to Middle Georgia's Safiya Dean in the 23rd minute, Albany State responded with determination. Senior forward Nelia Dailey found the equalizer in the 72nd minute, calmly converting a penalty kick to bring the score level at 1-1. Dailey's goal energized the Rams, who continued to press forward late into the match but were unable to find a game-winner.

Goalkeeper Leire Rodriguez Najera anchored the Albany State defense with a stellar 15-save effort, keeping the Lady Golden Rams in contention throughout. Krysti Achu-Chick led the team with four shots, while Jordyn Keene, Aixa Barrera, and Madysen Fraser each added crucial offensive pressure.

Albany State's defense held firm under constant pressure, displaying grit and teamwork in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

Up next, the Lady Golden Rams will hit the road for a midweek matchup against Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., on Wednesday, October 15. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
